Sustainable Stewardship with CR3
Funding Efforts to Create a Closed-Loop System for Industrial Processes
As a member of the Center for Resource, Recovery and Recycling (CR3), Gopher Resource is helping to develop sustainable processes for the recycling and manufacturing industries. The Center’s ongoing goal is to create a closed-loop system for industrial processes that mimics the efficiencies found in nature.
The Best Minds in Recycling Technology Research
CR3 is a true cooperative research center. It unites over 15 industry leaders and four of the world’s leading universities in materials engineering. Since 2009, the Center has sponsored over 30 research projects focusing on solutions for:
- Metal sorting and recycling
- Energy efficiency
- By-product valorization
- Waste minimization
Gopher Resource Donates Spark-OES
To further support our collaborative R&D with universities, Gopher Resource recently donated a spark optical emission spectrometer to the Colorado School of Mines, a CR3 member college. Spark-OES is an excellent technique for evaluating lead and lead alloys for quality control and production. With so much lead coming from recycled sources, the instrument will improve methods to produce purer lead alloys.
